South Indian actress Jayanthi is alive; family denies rumours of her demise


NEW DELHI: 73-year-old Veteran south Indian actress Jayanthi’s family has denied the reports of her death and claimed that it is a fraudulence.

There had been reports that the actress Jayanthi aka Kamala Kumari passed away after she was hospitalised over the complaint of ‘ asthma disease and acute respiratory failure’.
Jayanthi’s son Krishna Kumar said, “She has been suffering from asthma for 35 years and used inhalers every day, was never admitted to any hospital due to these disease.

Last evening, her health started deteriorated and she was taken to Sidvin Hospital. We shifted her to Vikram Hospital in Cunningham Road on the base of doctor’s advice. The doctors have told us that she will be kept under observation for the next 24 hours. She is currently on the ventilator.”

Although, according to latest report, Jayanti is recovering and is also responding well to the treatment. The report also mentioned that she might be discharged in a few days.

Actress Jayanthi is a known as South film industry. She has acted in over 500 movies including films in the Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi and Marathi languages. She has received two Karnataka State Film Awards for Best Actress, the President’s Medal for Best Actress and two Filmfare Awards for Best Actress.
