NEW DELHI: Rahul Gandhi who is presently vice-president of Congress visited on Friday east Delhi in MCD office and impressed with striking cleaning workers.
Rahul Gandhi said in case of addressing to striking workers, "he will appear their battle".
Rahul Gandhi said "If you have desire to sitting me here for hours and listen to you, I will do that,” "You are not just workers, you are soldiers," the Gandhi told MCD workers. Rahul Gandhi asked sanitation workers to come together and show their strength.
"If you ask this government, you won ' t get anything. But if you come together and show your strength, your work will be done in five minutes. This strike is the right way to go," Rahul Gandhi said. Rahul Gandhi said that both Centre and Delhi government are shirking their responsibilities.
Vice-president of Congress Rahul Gandhi said that Delhi government says that it is the responsibility of government of India and Union government says its Delhi government ' s problem. So both are excuses.
The strike by sanitation workers has turned east Delhi into a huge garbage dump over the past 10 days, posing a serious threat to people ' s health, but the squabbling men in authority can ' t smell the stink. About 15,000 tons of waste has been dumped on roadsides and in residential areas and 12,000 sanitation workers are refusing to work without getting their salaries.
But the two men who live far away in Civil Lines - chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and lieutenant governor Najeeb Jung - less than a kilometre from each other, have displayed no sense of urgency as a full-blown public health crisis develops. No one owns up to the mess, the Swachh Bharat campaign is damned!
