NEW DELHI: The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Adityanath Yogi led Bhartiya Janata Party has renamed the eminent Mughalsarai junction as Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction. Now, this station will be known as Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction.
A notification has been announced by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on June 4, 2018.
The station has now been named after the Jan Sangh leader as he was found dead under mysterious circumstances at the junction on February 11, 1968.
Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi has sent the proposal for renaming of the station to the Centre in August 2017 and the Ministry of Home Affairs had accepted the proposal while members of opposition parties had objected.
The railway station is the more biggest and the busiest in the country which was built during the British rule.
