LIVE: Former PM AB Vajpayee's funeral today at Smirti Sthal, tightened security in Delhi

NEW DELHI: Former prime minister, Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) legendary leader and Bharat Ratna will take place on August 17, Friday evening at around 4:00 PM in Delhi’s Rashtriya Smriti Sthal amid tightened security. Three time prime minister of India, Vajpayee who had breathed last at the age of 93 years in New Delhi’s All India Institutes of Medical Science (AIIMs) hospital on August 16, Thursday evening at 5:05 PM due to long term kidney tract infection and chest congestion. A great leader Vajpayee ' s funeral procession will take place at Smriti Sthal at 1:30 pm. He was the 10 prime minister of India. Bharat Ratna Vajpayee will be cremated today with full honour. Private or government schools, colleges and offices will be remain close today on the mark of last respect of the great leader and national flag also will be flown at half-mast throughout India. Many key leaders of BJP including  different party along with  ministers have paid tribute to  former prime minister Vajpayee to expressing a huge regret on his demise. According to report, Almost all roads leading to central Delhi including Krishna Memon Marg, Akbar Road, Janpath and India Gate C-Hexagon, among others, will remain closed from 8:00 am onwards for the general public on Friday in order to ensure smooth vehicular movement during Vajpayee`s final journey. Traffic will also not be permitted on lower Ring Road from ISBT Kashmere Gate towards Shantivan and from IP flyover towards Rajghat. The mortal remains of the former prime minister was kept at his 6-A Krishna Menon Marg home from Thursday night to Friday morning. The body has taken to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters.
