NEW DELHI: The country including top most five India’s IIT colleges are celebrating contributions of legendary engineer Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya on his birth anniversary on September 15, Saturday. The name of IIT colleges have been enlisted below which are taking part in celebration.
According to National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2018, the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras has earned the top engineering colleges rank.
The College was established in 1959, with support from the former government of West Germany, which was ranked 264 in the world in the Quacquarelli Symonds World University (QSWU) Ranking 2018, 48 in Asia, and 18 among BRICS nations.
Founded in 1958, Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay had placed the second position in India. According to NIRF ranking 2018, the institute was also placed the same position in 2017.
Indian Institute of Technology Bombay is one of the eminent engineering institutes in India. The Institute has 15 academic departments, 30 centres, one School.
According to NIRF ranking 2018, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi was placed third position in India. The institute also got the ‘Institute of Eminence’ status in 2018 with other institutes.
Indian Institute of Technology Delhi started as college of engineering and technology in 1961 and established as IIT Delhi in 1963.
According to the NIRF ranking 2018, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur placed the fourth position. The institute was ranked 60th in the world.
In 1950, IIT-Kharagpur was one of the top engineering colleges of India, which was shifted to Kharagpur later.
In 2017, the Indian Institute of Technology-Kanpur uphold its position among top five engineering institutes in the NIRF ranking 2018. The institute ranked 81st among the Asian Universities. As per the Quacquarelli Symonds World University (QSWU) ranking, IIT-Kanpur was placed 283, 59 in Asia, and 21 among the BRICS nations.
