About Us

SK DAV Government Polytechnic is a well-known and state-run Polytechnic College at the city of Rourkela in the Odisha state which was set up on 01/ 07/ 1967 located at Basanti Nagar by the collaboration of Smt. Sushilavati Khosla to donating a sum of rupees one lakh to the D. A. V. Trust. Smt. Khosla was a wife of Dr. Ajudhia Nath Khosla who was former Governor of Odisha.  Later, the D. A. V. trust was started with the joint name as "S.K.D.A.V. Polytechnic for women" at Rourkela. 

Particularly, the college was established for providing diploma education only for girl students.  In the year 2011, the name of the institute has been changed to "SKDAV Government Polytechnic, Rourkela". 

In 2013, the institution has started a co-education for both boys and girls to imparting polytechnic education. A campus of the college is sprawling with an area of 19 acres of land in the best ambiance.

The institution is conducted under the mentorship of the Directorate of Technical Education & Training, Odisha, Cuttack under the administrative control of the Department of Skill Development & Technical Education, Government of Odisha. It is affiliated with All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). 

Admission procedure

The college accepts merit-based Polytechnic admission which depends on the student’s performance or rank. After concluding all the admission process, students are considered to admission at the college.

Eligibility 

The candidates must have to pass the Class 10th examination or equivalent examination with a minimum 35% mark.

Placement Records

Placement Cell is an important resource for providing job to students. Various students who have completed their course from this institution,  have placed at central Government organizations, like Doordarshan, Air, Telecom, educational institutions and offices of State Government of Odisha like Gridco, OPTCL etc. Many students have also got the best post in the NALCO, Wipro, Hitachi, Jindal etc.
