About Us

Panjab University, Chandigarh was initiated as a University of Punjab at Lahore (situated in Pakistan now) on October 14, 1882, but it was set up in 1947 at Punjab in India. It is one of the renowned and the oldest university in India. The University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the Panjab University is a pioneer Institution in the Pharmaceutical Education and Research in India. Coming to the campus of the university then it is sprawling with more than 550 acres of the land in sector 14 and 25 of the city of Chandigarh, Punjab where main administrative and academic buildings are situated. It has 6 Constituent Colleges located at Sikhwala, Balachaur, Nihalsingh Wala, Dharamkot, Mokham Khan Wala and Guru Harsahai.

In 1956 the university was shifted to Chandigarh, on a red sandstone campus designed by Pierre Jeanneret under the mentorship of the legendary Le Corbusier. PU has got affiliation with University Grants Commission (UGC), National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
