About Us

Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati is known as IITG and it is a public institution that was granted by the Government of India. The institute has been founded in the year 1994 on the north bank of the river Brahmaputra around 20 kilometers from the Guwahati city of Assam state.  Its academic course as a Bachelor of Technology program has been initiated in 1995 and spread over 2.849 km.

After the commencement of this institute, it has organized later around eleven departments and five inter-disciplinary academic centers under the institute. The institute has the intention to impart high-quality education in India and abroad in the field of B.Tech, BDes, MA, MDes, MTech, MSc, and Ph.D. and has also intended to make capable and reinforce faculty experts under the offering curriculums through modern technologies. The college campus is spread over an area of 700 acres of land. It has sixth place in India among the Indian Institute of Technology.

Application process

Students, who have aspired to attain this education from the institute, are mandatory to register their application with application fees within the scheduled date of registration as without registration students will be not accepted at the examination hall.

Admission Process

After concluding the registration, students are distributed admits card. There then they are called to appear in national-level examinations like JEE Advanced and GATE. Successful students are invited to other tests like group discussions, personal interviews, and written ability tests. At the last moment, they are selected or considered for admission at the institute.  

Fee Structure

Tuition fees for different curriculums are variable. Candidates belonging to SC / ST / PwD do have not to pay tuition fees. But, for a student whose annual income is 1 lakh, Tuition Fee is fully waived. While general category candidates have to pay tuition fees which are varied for different curriculums.

The institute has a unique placement cell that establishes a good relationship with various industries with the purpose to build a career for students. It has sustained approx. 80-95% placement record every year.

Atmosphere around the IIT Guwahati campus is so pleasant and education is so so good I would like to rate this college with 5 star. When you would come to Indian Institute of Technology I damn sure like.
