About Us

National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Hyderabad is an Indian Government Pharmacy research University which is a part of the seven schools is conducted under mentorships of the Department of Pharmaceuticals (DoP), Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, the Govt. of India. NIPER was the first institute established in the year 1998 located at Jinkalwada, Balanagar, Hyderabad that offers both the Masters's and Doctoral degrees in pharmaceutical sciences.

National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Hyderabad is an "Institute of National Importance" to become a Centre of Excellence for advanced research in pharmaceutical sciences.

Apart from this establishment, the DOP has established again 6 new NIPERs across the country wherein NIPER-Hyderabad is including, started functioning from 19th October 2007, from the premises of erstwhile R&D Centre of IDPL, Balanagar, Hyderabad.

The Institute started with 3 disciplines Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmacology & Toxicology and Pharmaceutical Analysis in the year 2007.

Hereafter, 4 new courses were added again such as - Pharmaceutics, M.B.A (Pharm.) and Regulatory Toxicology and M.Tech. - Process Chemistry.

PhD programme in this institute commenced in the academic year 2011-12 in 4 disciplines Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmacology & Toxicology, Pharmaceutical Analysis, and Pharmaceutics.

National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Hyderabad was ranked 6 by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) pharmacy ranking in 2021.

NIPER, Hyderabad has offered the following programmes with a tendency to commit globally based education with both aspects professionally and educationally by the various courses in the field of PhD, M.S. (Pharm.), M.Tech. (Pharm.) and M.B.A (Pharm.).

Admission procedure

NIPER, Hyderabad holds admission by online mode on the basis of the NIPER JEE entrance examination that depends on the student’s performance.  Students are invited for a personal interview and written ability test after clearing the entrance examination.
