NEW DELHI: West Bengal Chief Minister
Mamata Banerjee on Thursday congratulated UPA chairperson
Sonia Gandhi for the Congress ' s victory in the
Rajasthan by-polls. She said the time of ruination for BJP has come now.
Sonia Gandhi also congratulated WB Chief Minister Banerjee on the Trinamool Congress victory in the
West Bengal by-polls.
Mamata could not attend a meeting in New Delhi with opposition leaders chaired by the UPA chairperson due to other preoccupations.
At the present, the
Congress party has left back the ruling
Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) in Rajasthan, clinching all the two Lok Sabha and one state Assembly seat in by-polls in the state.
Congress ' s candidates won the Alwar and Ajmer Lok Sabha and Mandalgarh Assembly seats from the BJP by impressive margins.
Banerjee ' s Trinamool Congress broke the BJP challenge easily in West Bengal because its candidates won the Uluberia Lok Sabha and Noapara Assembly seat.
"I believe powerful regional parties should be strengthened to put up a fight against the BJP. If there is a one-to-one fight, then this anti-people government will be ousted in the next Lok Sabha polls," West Bengal CM said.
