Vasco Da Gama-Patna Express derailment: Railways Minister announces compensation to victims

NEW DELHI: 13 bogies of Vasco Da Gama-Patna Express derailed at 4:18 morning near Manikpur in Uttar Pradesh state on November 23, Friday in which three passengers have been killed while more than 9 passengers were injured. The train was going from Goa to Patna.
According to Pratap Gopendra Singh who is Superintendent of Police at Chitrakut, a father and his son from Bettiah district of Bihar state died on the spot while the third person died at a hospital. Providing a breakup of the derailed coaches, North Central Railway PRO Amit Malviya said, the coaches which jumped off the rails were coaches numbered S3-S11, two general bogies and two extra coaches.
