Train tramples seven teenagers in UP’s Ghaziabad, 6 dies, one injured

NEW DELHI: The speeding train on Monday, February 26 trampled at least seven children near Hapur crossing in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad in which six were lost their lives while one battling for life. According to the local ' s reports, the teenagers were walking across the railway track with their headphones plugged in ears and the train hit all of them at the same time.
Police said that all the victims aged between 14 years and 16 years. They were daily wage labourers and worked as painters and helpers. According to police, all the seven teenagers were a friend and they were returning home after missing a train for Hyderabad. The six deceased have been identified as Vijay, Salim, Akash, Arif, Sameer and Rahul. Soon after the incident, agitated locals blocked the railway track. The protesters claimed that the area is poorly lit and they take the train tracks as a shortcut. “There is no warning when trains arrive,” added the protesters.
