Sealdah-Ajmer express with 15 bogies derailed near Rura railway station in Kanpur today in which two people dead while more than 25 people were injured. The accident took place near
Rura railway station at around 5:20 AM, 50 kms far from Kanpur.
Rescue and relief operations were being carried out by railway administration and railway authorities.
Meanwhile, more rescue teams were sent from Etawah and Kanpur to the accident spot.
According to the Anil Saxena statement who is railway spokesman, "A rescue team has sent to the spot and a medical relief train from Kanpur has also been sent to the accident site. Recently, we are focusing on relief and rescue operations."
Anil Saxena said that cause of derailment of the train was dense fog.
Rescue and relief operations have been started at the accident spot with the district health department dispatching 14 ambulances and relief teams from Kanpur and Tundla.
Buses have also been collected to drop the stranded passengers from the spot to Kanpur railway station.
Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu on Wednesday said he is personally watching the situation following the derailment of the Ajmer-Sealdah Express in Kanpur. "We are making alternate arrangements for passengers to continue with their onward journey," he said in a series of tweets. The railway minister said all assistance is being provided to injured.
The Delhi-Howrah route via Kanpur has been temporarily closed and the Shatabdi express from Delhi to Kanpur has been cancelled.
