Trade union of transport, banking services strike begins in many cities

Delhi: Trade Union of transport and banking are taking part in strike for 24 hours today. Around more than14 crore workers through central trade unions including banking service, manufacturing, construction and coal mining sectors, are taking share in this strike where BJP supporter will be not appear in this agitation . The strike hits transport and banking operations around the country in several cities. Long lines of school children including Passengers has been seen on bus stand from early in the morning, while those passengers who got down on the air port are waiting to taxis and rickshaws stayed off the streets. According to All India Bank Employees ' Association general secretary named CH Venkatachalam , IANS Employees of the Reserve Bank of India including old private sector banks, cooperative banks, regional rural banks are taking part in the strike. In Kolkata, partial impact was seen on suburban trains while shops, markets and business establishments in most areas remained closed. Minor incidents of violence were reported from some areas of West Bengal. In the capital city, striking workers scuffled with police who tried to stop them from staging a demonstration In Bihar, workers of trade unions belonging to the Congress and the Left parties blocked national and state highways and at some places stopped passenger and long-distance trains. This strike hardly impacts in Bihar at several places. "Road traffic in Patna and across Bihar was badly hit by the strike of the trade unions. Auto-rickshaws and buses are outside of the roads in Patna and other districts. In Uttar Pradesh, striking employees from INTUC and AITUC unions clashed with members of the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh who turned up for work at the Ordinance Equipment Factory (OEF) in Armapore. State-run buses services were affected in Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh. Parveen Kumar, a Haryana Roadways employee said that We are opposing the new labour laws. In Kerala, public and private bus services, taxis and auto rickshaws were also outside of the roads. Only a few private cars and two wheelers were seen on the roads. Shops, hotels and even small tea stalls were closed in the state.
