St Francis School Students donate gift captives for freedom in Bareilly
St Francis School Students of a Bareilly school have begun spreading the festive this Christmas season, bringing joy to the families of 14 prisoners by securing their free ahead of the holiday.
Around 2,500 students of St Francis School donated Rs 39,460 to facilitate the free of captives who were convicted of minor offices and had completed their jail term but were still lodged in jail as they couldn’t afford to pay the fine.
Sister Lismin, principal of the school said, “This was a new idea that struck me after reading an article in the newspaper. It was a voluntary campaign wherein we didn’t force anyone to donate for the cause.”
“It feels great to be a part of an first step through which we have given these people a chance to begin life anew,” said Akshat, a Class 12 student, adding that some students even donated a portion of their pocket money for the same.
The jail authorities also praised the school authorities including students for the first step.
District jail superintendent DR Maurya said in his statement that nobody wants to spend his or her life in jail. These prisoners are lucky that they will get to spend this Christmas with their relative
