Today is Raksha Bandhan festival. Raksha Bandhan festival is celebrating over all in India today with curiosity and happily. It is the festival of love and affection between brothers and sisters. Raksha Bandhan is also called Rakhi Purnima in many parts of India and Nepal. The festival is a Hindu festival and is also a secular festival which celebrates the love and duty between brothers and sisters. The festival is also popularly used to celebrate any brother-sister relationship between men and women who are relatives.
Each sister binds or ties a cord of safety on the brother’s wrist and pray to God for long live. Girls of both religion- Hindus and Muslims also tie safety cord (Raksha sutra) on the wrist of brother and brother promises for safety his sister. The festival falls on the full moon day (Shravan Poornima) of the Shravan month every year. Raksha Bandhan is primarily observed in northern and western India, Mauritius and major parts of Nepal. It is also celebrated by Hindus in parts of Pakistan,and by some non-resident Indians and non-resident Nepalis around the world. First of all, Sisters decorate dish with flowers, rori, sandal and Incense stick along with sweets and worship her brother, tie sacred thread on wrist and after then feed sweets their brother on the occasion of Rakhi Bandhan
