Priyanka Gandhi bungalow rent Rs. 53,000 for 2,765 sqm in Lutyens, Delhi at only Rs 8,888

New Delhi: Priyanka Gandhi Vadra daughter of Congress President Sonia Gandhi had negotiated the monthly rent to her sprawling bungalow in Lutyens’ Delhi to only Rs. 8,888. Around 14 years ago, Vadra had made the Vajpayee government to reduce the rent from the original Rs. 53,ooo for the bungalow with a whole area of 2,765.18 sqm house. Striking a hard bargain, Gandhi had said that it was “beyond her capacity to pay the high amount”. Gandhi currently has type four government accommodations at 35, Lodhi Estate and pays Rs. 31,300 for the same. Priyanka Gandhi, along with three others- former Punjab DGP KPS Gill, All India Anti-Terrorist Front chief M S Bitta and Punjab Kesari editor Ashwani Kumar- had been provided accommodation by the government on security grounds. Priyanka had written to the government in May 2002, saying that Rs. 53,421 was too high an amount for her to pay since it was”beyond her paying capacity”.
