PDP, BJP to form govt in J-K; Mehbooba to be CM, Nirmal deputy CM

The Bharatiya Janata Party and the Peoples Democratic Party, both sealed the deal on Friday to set-up a government in Jammu and Kashmir after over two months of governor’s rule in the state.
BJP president of J&K Sat Sharma said, “BJP legislators have decided to set-up a government with the PDP in the state. We will extend support to PDP’s Mehbooba Mufti for CM candidate.”
Sharma said the BJP and PDP will set-up the government based on agenda of alliance and that there will be no change in it.
Nirmal Singh was unanimously elected the BJP legislature party’s leader in the state.
The PDP MLAs had unanimously elected party Chief Mehbooba Mufti as the legislature party leader on Thursday.
After meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Tuesday, Mehbooba had said that she would take a final decision regarding the government formation and PDP-BJP alliance after consulting her party MLAs in the legislature meeting.
Jammu and Kashmir was placed under governor’s rule on January 8 after chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s death on January 7.
