Pathankot ISI spying row: Ex-IAF officer Ranjith in jail for 14 days

DELHI: A Delhi court on Monday jailed a former IAF officer named KK Ranjith under the Official Secrets Act for 14 days. City police said he had not given any leads about the continuing Pathankot Indian air force base terror attack in case of interrogation.
The Crime Branch of city police on January 2 preserved a time enhanced to interrogate the former Ex-IAF officer on the basis that he may have information on the Pathankot air force base attack. It was also clarified that Ranjith had not been taken to Gwalior or Jaisalmer to be faced up with his alleged associates as asked for in the first hearing after his arrest from Bhatinda Air Force base where he was location. In case of hearing the case, the accused was presented by advocate named Simon Benjamin, who pressed applications to receive a copy of the First Investigation Report and meet with his client. “My client was arrested December 28, and still hasn’t seen the charges against him,” Benjamin told the Delhi court. Meanwhile, the police was silent as to why Ranjith wasn’t taken to any of the places for which they were granted police custody on the first hearing. All the same, officers said that investigation into the entire network of ISI operatives and the spying nexus is still in its primary stage.
