Lord Ganesha idols immersion festival 2016 in Mumbai today

The police forces have been deployed for the sake of immersion of the Lord Ganesha idols at the city of Mumbai including the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai today, which will be terminate the 11-day long festival. According to MCGM report, “A total of 31 artificial ponds have been created for the idols immersion in Mumbai while people can also immerse the idols of the elephant-headed deity in 68 natural ponds across the mega-polis.” “Around 607 life guards are being deployed while 58 control cells and 74 first aid centres have also been arranged in the city. More than 81 motor boats along with 57 ambulances have been kept ready for the view of people safety,” Besides it, 118 portable toilets have been arranged too. At least,201 ‘Nirmalya Kalashas’ are also being kept by the civic body. As many as 5,173 employees and 2,382 officers will be working to oversee the immersion. Prime locations for immersion are Girgaon Chowpatty, Juhu beach, Powai lake, Dadar Chowpatty, Madh jetty, Marve etc. Mayor Snehal Ambekar and civic chief Ajoy Mehta both of them have appealed devotees to inform the civic authorities or officers for any assistance in case of any event. The immersion process is likely to begin since the wee hours and over 50,000 idols are likely to be immersed amid fanfare and tight security. Police have beefed up security and companies of the State Reserve Police Force are also being deployed. “We are in contact with all the concerned agencies and have made exclusive arrangements for a smooth ‘Visarjan’,” Mumbai Police spokesperson Ashok Dudhe told PTI. “Apart from our full strength, cranes, watchtowers, drones, coast guard’s helicopters, CCTVs and floodlights have been arranged to keep a watch on every movement of the revellers and devotees,” he added.
