NEW DELHI: A protest has been called in Mumbai by Maratha groups on July 25, Wednesday with the purpose to demanding reservation in government job including education for the community. The protesters have also announced to close (Bandh) Mumbai today.
According to report, The Maratha Kranti Morcha has begun the agitation in Mumbai due to press their demand of 16% reservation and to protest against the death of a Maratha youth in Aurangabad. Violent protests took place on Tuesday after the death of a man who jumped into a river in Aurangabad. While, another group of protester, the Sakal Maratha Samaj, will lead protest in Navi Mumbai and Panvel. A huge violence erupted in a state-wide protest on July 24, Tuesday in Maharashtra in which a constable died and nine other policemen were injured at that time when three protesters were attempting to suicide. After beginning agitation by protesters / Maratha groups, which were aimed to shutdown Mumbai, a huge security has been arranged instantly in Mumbai. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis urged to all people for peace. CM Fadnavis stated that government was serious about a resolution. After this incident, internet services were suspended in rural areas of Aurangabad district with the view to prevent any offensive incident. LIVE updates on Maratha bandh: • Protesters are blocking traffic on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway. • The Sion Panvel highway has also been completely blocked. • Protesters have blocked arterial roads, including the Eastern Expressway and forced shops to shut in pockets of Raigad. • Local train routes have been blocked in Jogeshwari and near Thane • Members of Maratha Kranti Morcha block a local train in Thane • A constable deployed near the funeral venue of the protester who jumped to death on Monday, died. • The impact of Tuesday ' s bandh was more visible in Aurangabad and adjoining districts in the central region of the state.
