Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and decided to bating first. MS Dhoni-led India will have their task cut out as they turn up at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai for the 4th ODI on Today. A loss here would mean a series defeat while South Africa will have the upper hand going into the day-night ODI.
On October 22. A historic ground, MA Chidambaram Stadium, it hosted its first international game in 1934, when India played England in February month of 1934. The last international match held here was a Test match India Vs Australia in early 2013. Australia had lost that match, and he had confessed the series 4-0.

The last ODI played here at MA Chidambaram Stadium was between India and Pakistan, in the first bilateral series of the two countries after the terrorist attacks in Mumbai in 2008.
Pakistan, bowling first, reduced India to 29 for 5, as left-arm fast bowler Junaid Khan got Virender Sehwag, Virat Kohli and Yuvraj Singh bowled. MS Dhoni scored a patient century, and got India to 227 for 6 in their 50 overs. In reply, Pakistan opener Nasir Jamshed scored a century and helped his team to a six-wicket win in the 49th over.
South Africa has played one ODI here, against England in the World Cup held in 2011. In a bizarre match, South Africa, after a stable start in their chase of 172, lost by six runs. Stuart Broad, the England fast bowler, took four wickets in 6.4 over’s to spell the turnaround of his team. The other match South Africa were scheduled to play at this venue, in 2005 against India, was abandoned.
