IGNOU admissions 2018: Female enrollment weak in UG than PG course

NEW DELHI: At least a lakh of female candidates have enrolled at Indira Gandhi National Open University for the various courses(IGNOU) while more than two lakhs male students have enrolled in academic session 2018.
The recent data of IGNOU shows that only 40 % of female students have got enrolled for various Bachelor’s courses in both open and distance learning programmes.
Although, the landscape is quite different in post-graduate programmes (PG programmes) in which some programmes such as Master of Arts, Master of Commerce, female enrollment is much higher than male students. In Master of Commerce, out of 22,100 students, 12,768 female students have enrolled while 9,332 male students enrolled. In Master of Arts (Women and Gender Studies), out of 174 enrolled students, 147 are female and 27 are male.
