Howrah Express rape case: Army man remanded for 7-days in police custody

The army man, who was arrested in involve with the gang rape of a 14 years old young girl inside a compartment of Howrah-Amritsar Express, was remanded in police custody on Tuesday.
Army Jawan named Monjiris Tripathy, who was arrested by the GRP from Madhupur railway station on Monday, was presented before the Howrah chief judicial magistrate’s court and after then he sent to police custody. Tripathy, who is posted in Kolkata at the Eastern Command headquarters, had allegedly compelled the 14-year-old, who had climbed the compartment at Howrah station, to take alcohol. She was then allegedly raped by two other army jawans inside the moving train. The girl’s statement was also recorded by the sixth judicial magistrate during the day and her medical examination conducted. The girl was found from the compartment when Railway Police Force raided the train at Madhupur station on receiving a message from RPF Howrah. The girl’s father had mentioned complaints that she had fled from home and was travelling by the train.
