Hartalika Teej 2017: Marital women celebrate Teej festival today

NEW DELHI: According to Hindu Panchang,
Hartalika Teej festival is celebrated every year in the Hindi month of Bhadrapad Tritiya of Shukla Paksha.
There is story behind Teej festival. Haritalika means
kidnapping by friends. Parvati daughter of Himalaya had been kidnapped by her friends for marriage with God Shiva. Parvati had begun to austerities in the forest for getting Lord Shiva as her husband. At the last, she got married with him.
So, women and girls had started to worship
Lord Shiva along with
Mata Parvati from those days. At the present time, Women from different states like Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and other states are celebrating this festival on August 24,Thursday this year. It is also known as Teeja festival. Marital women and girls celebrate it with great curiosity and veneration to acquiring her husband for long living. Women do this festival in the purpose of good will for monolithic fortune, while girls do it for good husband.
They worship to God Shiva and Mata Parvati with Flowers, garland, incense stick and sacrament. They take fast day and night completely. Festival doers wake all day- night during this festival and second day of festival take food in the morning that is called
Paran.
