Gujarat Assembly poll 2017: Voting for final phase in Gujarat begins today

NEW DELHI: Voting for the second and final phase of the Gujarat Assembly Election 2017 begins on December 14, Thursday at morning amid tightened security. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress president Rahul Gandhi are leading the electioneering for their parties. A total of 851 candidates are in the fray for 93 seats across 14 districts in north and central Gujarat, where at least 2.22 crore people will decide the fate of these candidates by cast their votes in the election.
Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel is including in the election of second phase fray, who is contesting from Mehsana against Jivabhai Patel of Congress. Alpesh Thakor, who joined the Congress, is seeking election from Radhanpur constituency. Lavingji Thakor of the BJP is contesting against him. Vadgam SC seat is another key constituency from where independent candidate Jignesh Mevani is fighting the election on Congress support against BJP ' s Vijay Chakravarti. Prime Minister Narendra Modi waited in a queue to vote at booth no 115 at the Nishan High School in Ahmedabad. Earlier today the PM had requested people to vote in large numbers in the second and final phase of the assembly elections.
