Ganesh Chaturthi 2018: Ganesh festival begins today, PM Modi greets nation


NEW DELHI: The Ganesh Chaturthi 2018 is being to celebrate today across India by Hindus with full curiosity. Prime Minister Narendra Modi including key leaders of several parties have greeted the nation on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. The festival turns up every year in the month of September.

Lord Ganesh known as son of God Shiv Shanker and goddess Parvati is the great and glorious festival for Hindu religion that begins on September 13, Thursday for ten days as a Ganesh Chaturthi across India. But, the festival is especially celebrated in Maharashtra’s Aurangabad.

As we cognize that Lord Ganesh which is destroyer of each obstacles is worshiped in every event before worship of all Gods.

Therefore, Lord Ganesh is identified with the name of obstacle destroyer. Lord Ganesh is known as several names like Ganesh, Gajanan, Lambother, ekdant, Bighnharta, Bighneshwer, Umasut, Ganpati Bappa etc.

The idol of Ganesh is set up by devotees with a huge passion at their home or colorful pandals and then they worship them. The idol of Lord Ganesh will be immersed in to rivers after ten days on September 23 with fully love and affection.


Modak and laddu are offered by devotees to lord Ganesh during the worship as these are favorite food for them.

It is believed that once Lord Ganesha fought with Lord Parshuram which is the sixth avatar of Lord Vishnu. During their fight, Lord Ganesha’s tooth broke and he faced difficulty while eating. So, laddus were prepared for him that melted in his mouth and he could have it to his heart’s elation.
