Actress Rakhi Sawant will campaign for RPI in Assam

Guwahati: Bollywood new actress Rakhi Sawant will be campaigning for Republican Party of India in Assam. The party (RPI) has been facing for the rights of Dalits in Maharashtra, has its roots in Scheduled Castes ' Federa tion led by Babasaheb Ambedkar. "Rakhi Sawant heads the women ' s wing of the party. Her presence in the campaign will definitely have an impact on the younger generation. Our motive behind contesting the Assam election is to promote the constitutional rights of people here," said Nathuni Das, RPI (A) state general secretary. The party is thinking a plan to rope in singer and actor Salma Agha for campaigning in Assam. Actor Nana Patekar may also share the stage with the stars, Das added. On Monday, the party announced the first list of seats it will contest. Das said the party would soon announce candidates for upper Assam.
