Mumbai :-A month after the BJP-led Maharashtra government announced allotment of a initial piece of land to Bollywood actress and MP Hema Malini for a dance school, is now accused of land grabbing.
An RTI activist Anil Galgali has claimed the plot cost in crores is being given to her for a mere Rs 70,000. According to RTI records, the land situated in the Oshiwara area measures 2000 sq. meters and the actress Hema Malini has been allotted the land at a mere Rs. 35 per sq. meters. According to the report, actress Hema Malini has not returned the land which was previously allotted to her. It was in the year 1997 that the actress was first allotted land for setting up a dance school, but the project did not take off due to Coastal Regulation Zone issues. “I have written a letter to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and pointed out how his government was being so kind to give a plot at a throw-away price which is against the policy of his own government,” Galgali said. The plot was originally reserved for a garden, but “conveniently it was handed over to a BJP MP for her dance academy”, he said. “File nothings received under the RTI also show this is the second time she has been allotted a prime plot in Mumbai,” Galgali alleged. The ready reckoner rate is an annual statement of property rates based on which the government collects stamp duty from buyers.
