YC Modi appointed as National Investigation Agency Director General

NEW DELHI: IPS officer Y C Modi of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre  who was serving in a team of National Investigation Agency, appointed as the next Director General of the apex investigating agency. He was investigating 2002 Gujarat riots case. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) on Monday,September 18 designated  Y C Modi for the next NIA chief. The agency has been tasked with investigation of terror financing related cases.
Modi will take charge from Sharad Kumar on completion of his tenure after October 30. Senior IPS officer, Rajni Kant Misra, has been appointed Director General of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). In order to ensure a smooth transition of power Y C Modi has also been approved for the appointment of Officer on Special Duty with immediate effect. Y C Modi will hold the post till his superannuation, i.e. May 31, 2021, said the ACC order. Rajnikant Mishra will hold office till August 31, 2019. He is presently serving as the Additional Director General in the Border Security Force (BSF).
