VHP leader killed during procession in Madikeri, Karnataka today; 35 people injured

BENGALURU: A Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader named Kuttappa was killed and more than 35 persons were injured during a protest march in Madikeri, about 250km from Bengaluru, Karnataka.
This incident occurs when the VHP leader including his followers were on procession on the occasion of Tipu Sultan Jayanti celebrations today. However, the protest march took a communal turn, leading to violence. The police had to rush in additional reinforcements to take control of the situation. According to local reports, the reason for the communal flare up was stone pelting by some miscreants during the procession to protest against the Tipu Jayanti celebrations in Madikeri town.
