Umar Khalid, Bhattacharya surrender to police; case hearing today

New Delhi :-Jawaharlal Nehru University students Umar Khalid and Anirban Bhattacharya, who is struggling the charge of anti- national, surrendered before the police late tonight. Delhi High Court rejected to grant them protection from arrest.
The duo, who returned to the JNU campus last Sunday after having gone missing since February 12, drove from the administrative bloc to the main gate of the university, got into a Delhi Police vehicle and was taken to an undisclosed destination. According to the police report, Khalid and Bhattacharya both of them surrendered at midnight. Khalid and Bhattacharya on Wednesday will be produced face to face before a magistrate. Khalid and Bhattacharya including five others students along with JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar those were shouting anti –nation slogan in the JNU campus on the mark of convict Afzal Guru death anniversary who was attacked on parliament Besides Kumar, Khalid and Bhattacharya, the other students are Rama Naga, Ashutosh Kumar and Anant Prakash. Delhi Police had issued a look-out notice on February 20 against Khalid, Bhattacharya, Naga, Ashutosh and Prakash. The university students formed a human chain to prevent the media from following Khalid and Bhattacharya when they were leaving the campus this evening.
