Retirement age of government doctors to be enhanced to 65 years


NEW DELHI: Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Wednesday September 27, indicated that retirement age of government doctors other than Central Health Service doctors will be enlarged to 65 years. The present retirement age of Central government doctors is 60 years.

in the month of July, the government had approved an increase in retirement age of general duty medical officers of the central armed police forces and the Assam Rifles. It was also increased from 60 years to 65 years.

The cabinet decision will assist the hospitals to retain experienced doctors till the age of 65 years. Government doctors are a great help to poor across the nation as they mostly rely on government hospitals for treatment.
