Ram Rahim rape conviction: Haryana govt suspends Panchkula DCP for failing to control violence triggered

NEW DELHI: The Haryana government has suspended to the deputy commissioner of police (DCP) on Saturday, because a day after at least 29 people had died in the Haryana state of Panchkula district in violence activation.
The violence erupted by the followers of self-styled godman Gurmeet Ram Rahim which is responsible for rape conviction.
According to official order, IPS officer Ashok Kumar, DCP Panchkula, has been put under suspension with immediate effect. During the period of suspension, he will report to the office of DGP, Haryana, Panchkula, it said.
Official’s sources claimed that the senior police officer has been blamed for failing to get prohibitory orders under Section 144 effectively implemented in Panchkula.
