PM Modi, Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa and Russian President Putin reveal Kudankulam Nuclear plant today

NEw DELHI: PM Narendra Modi including Russian President Vladimir Putin and Tamil Nadu CM J Jayalalithaa on Wednesday jointly dedicated India to reveal the first unit of Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant.
The revealing ceremony of Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant which is the first unit took place via video conferencing. During the dedicating Kudankulam nuclear power plant, PM Modi said, ' ' we mark another historic tie between India and Russia". "Today ' s is a delightful occasion for the group of engineers in India and Russia, we salute them for their curiosity," PM Modi added. The first unit was synchronised with southern power grid on October 22, 2013 and commercial power generation started by the end of December 2014. Recently, at least 10,800 million units of power has been generated from the first unit. This 1,000 megawatt Kudankulam nuclear power plant was built with Russian expertise following a pact between the then Indian prime minister Rajiv Gandhi and Soviet leader Mikahil Gorbachev in November 1988.
