NGT bans diesel vehicles in Delhi with instant effect

NEW DELHI: The National Green Tribunal on Monday has prohibited all diesel vehicles. These vehicle have been playing for more than 11 years in Delhi with instant effect.
Although the National Green Tribunal (NGT) had given the Delhi government two weeks time to clarify whether it is in favour of rejecting the registration of diesel cars which are 11 years old and petrol cars which are 14 years old. The Transport department of the Delhi government had informed the National Green Tribunal that in all, 3,000 diesel cars -10 years old and 15-years-old petrol cars - had been confiscated in the last one year. The NGT also pulled up the state government for environment compensation not being levied from vehicles despite its orders.
