Militant attack at Kokrajhar, Assam; 12 people killed

GUWAHATI: Unidentified persons (militants) on Friday noon attacked at kokrajhar of Assam state by firing in weekly market at Balajan Tiniali in which more than twelve civilians were killed and at least ten persons injured .
The forces have been appointed in the area responded immediately and after about half an hour of intense exchange of gunfire with the militants, one of the rebels was shot dead while the other two of them have run away. One Ak-47 rifle was founded from the slain militant.
The militants besides firing from sophisticated weapons also exploded a high explosive grenade that raged at least three shops.
This sudden incident of firing at a public place in broad daylight is first of its kind in the militancy-ravaged state.
