NEW DELHI:The Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2018 has started with a grand opening ceremony at the Carrara Stadium in Gold Coast. The ceremony has been started on April 4 (Wednesday) at 3:30 in which at least 4,500 athletes from 71 nations will be appear to emulate for 275 gold medals at the Commonwealth Games.
This is the first major multi-sport event which will have the same number of men’s and women’s medal events.
218-member Indian group will be aiming to get a bagful of medals and improve on the nation ' s fifth-place standing at the 2014 Games in Glasgow.
At the previous edition of Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, the Indian medal tally stood at 64 – 15 gold, 30 silver and 19 bronze.
