NEW DELHI: Dalit organisations have begun countrywide strike on April 2 (Monday) to protest against court’s March 20 verdict which was relevant to SC/ST Act amendment. Bharat Bandh by Dalit Organisations OdishaIt has been also seen to block rail service by protesters in the Bihar state.
"All educational institutions to remain closed and mobile Internet services to be suspended in the state tomorrow in the wake of bandh called by several Dalit organisations against the amendment under the SC/ST Act," a circular said. Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh appealed to the people of the state to follow the law and order. It is expected that government will review the petition in the Supreme Court today in the wake of a Bharat Bandh which has been called by Dalit organisations protesting the alleged dilution of SC\ST Act. Meanwhile, the situation is continue tense in Punjab, where all shops and educational institutions will remain closed. The CBSE has postponed all Class 12 and 10 exams which date was scheduled for April 2 in Punjab. Exams will be held as scheduled in Chandigarh and in the rest of the country. The Punjab government also suspended Internet services from 5 pm Sunday which will continue on Monday till 11 pm. Live Updates:
