Today Chandrabhan Sanap sentenced to hang (killed) for the rape and murder of a TCS techie last year in Mumbai Sanap was walking with Ms Anuhya, 23 years-old before she went missing on January 5, 2014 from a station near Mumbai. The decomposed and burnt body of the woman, who was working with Tata Consultancy Services.
Her dead body was found in a deep mud near a highway in Mumbai after 11 days. "The case falls under the category of the rarest of rare, hence the accused is awarded death sentence...he must be hanged by his neck till he is dead," said Special Women ' s court judge Vrushali Joshi pronouncing the verdict. Sanap had come to the Kurla station with a target to rob after a late night of drinking. He spotted Esther, who had arrived from Machilipatnam in Andhra Pradesh after spending the Christmas break with her family, and probably offered to take her to her home in Andheri, Mumbai, for Rs. 300. But when they went to the parking lot, Esther thought that the man did not have an autorickshaw or a taxi, just a motorcycle. He probably took her outside the road, beat her, attacked her head with a stone and pressed her throat with both hands before running away with her suitcase. He allegedly called the friend whose motorcycle he had borrowed and blurted out his crime. Later, he allegedly returned to Nashik, dragging Esther ' s bag that he gave away to a beggar. The bag was recovered by the police later.
