Army officer Umar Fayaz, abducted and shot dead by militants in J&K’s Shopian district

NEW DELHI: According to report, the two soldiers of the Indian army were garbled by Pakistan in Poonch sector of J&K’s Shopian district, in which a bullet-ridden body of an army lieutenant has been found in Shopian district ' s Herman area. The Indian army officer injured by multiple bullets on his body has been identified as Umar Fayaz, who belonged to Kulgam. Initially, Fayaz was kidnapped by terrorists on Tuesday which he was shot dead and his body was disposed latter, reports said.
Defence Minister Arun Jaitley has condemned for this heinous crime and said, "Abduction & murder of Lt. Ummer Fayaz by terrorists is dastardly act of cowardice. This young officer from J&K was a role model". He was abducted and shot dead by militants in Shopian district where he had gone to attend the wedding ceremony of a relative. Lieutenant Umer Fayaz was abducted by five to six militants from his relative’s house in south Kashmir’s Shopian last night. His bullet riddled body was found in Harmain area of Shopian this morning, a police official said. Fayaz was in the Infantry and was posted in Akhnoor area in Jammu. He was commissioned in “The Army salutes the brave heart and stands by the bereaved family in this hour of tragedy,” the official said, adding, “we are committed to bring the perpetrators of this heinous act of terror to justice”.
