Around 80 temples disappeared in J&K, claims BJD Bhartruhari Mahtab

NEW DELHI: Biju Janata Dal MP named Bhartruhari Mahtab on Friday raised the missing of a large number of temples in Jammu & Kashmir Lok Sabha and required an explanation from the Centre government why it had provided security to separatist leaders who have been attachment in anti-India.
Speaking on a resolution on reclamation of Kashmiri colonial moved by BJP ' s Nishikant Dubey, BJD ' s Bhartruhari Mahtab said around 80 temples were missing from the list provided by the government. At least 3.5 lakh Hindus had left the Valley after militancy and selective killing campaign began in 1989, he said.
The data of temples provided by the home secretary to a parliamentary sanding committee in 2009, BJD ' s Bhartruhari Mahtab said there were 436 temples in Kashmir before 1989 in which at least 80 temples have disappeared. "Temples complete were 266, damaged were 170 and temples renovated were 90.
