6.8-magnitude earthquake hits Northeast India today; shivers felt in four states

NEW DELHI : A huge magnitude earthquake measuring 6.8 on Richter Scale hits at around 4:04 pm on Wednesday in India ' s four states. Shivers were felt in Northeast India including West Bengal, Delhi-NCR, Bihar and Assam spreading commotion among people.
According to National Centre for Seismology, a unit of Ministry of Earth Sciences, the epicenter of the quake was in Myanmar at a depth of 58 kms. The earth quake struck 143 km west of the city of Meiktila, the US Geological Survey said. There were no any information of injured person or damage of property in India. But, as a safety and security, metro services were stopped for few minutes in Kolkata.
